If you ask someone to comment on how weight affects marriage, she will probably say that it doesn't affect a marriage much because love prevails, and blah blah blah. In short, you will get a bunchload of crap that belongs in a fantasy world and not in the reality of life. People say these things to make you feel good...for the moment. But it does not change the harsh reality of life, which is that weight does, indeed, affect your marriage.

After a couple marries, the female partner will usually start gaining weight within the first 6 months. This happens for 2 reasons. The first is that married women get comfortable and secure, thinking that looks are not so important anymore. The second reason is that the husband and in laws tend to force the new bride to eat more and more!

The first thing that takes a hit after weight gain of the bride is the sex! A fatter you is certainly an unsexier you. You have only yourself to blame if he doesn't seem in the mood much any more. Lack of libido has everything to do with attraction and feeling turned on. It has not much to do with love, unfortunately.

The sex is not the only thing that suffers. It will hurt a lot to acknowledge this, but it is a possibility that your husband is embarassed of you. Imagine all his friends bringing their hot wives to a party, where he takes a "fat" you! Embarassment!!!

To make things worse, his family is also on the watchout for faults in you. If you don't look as good as you used to, they will all feel that their beloved boy has been shortchanged! Whether we like it or not, looks matter and this is the first way people form impressions of each other!

Even your children are affected by your weight. They also feel proud if their momma is a hot number, and they feel embarassed if they have an "old auntie" for a mommy!

So you see, your weight affects your marriage and your family life in many ways. It is important to admit this to yourself and start doing something about it.
