They say that stress is the root cause of all our troubles and disease. Even doctors agree! But if you've got to live in the modern world, you just cannot avoid stress. Stress and tension is what our each day is about! But, surely there are ways to deal with the stress and beat it.

5 Ways to Beat Stress

1. Get a Massage. Massage parlours and spas are very common these days. But if you'd rather not spend all that money, why don't you and your partner give each other a massage? A weekly massage brings you closer and relaxes every bone and muscle in your body!

2. Have a Little Disconnect Time. Every evening before you go to bed, give yourself a few hours of disconnect time. This is when you turn off your laptop and switch off your phone. Believe it or not, the mobile phone is really a big source of stress!

3. Take up Yoga and Meditation. Even 20 minutes of Yoga or 20 minutes of meditation works wonders. People who practice Yoga swear by it. It even helps in losing weight.

4. Get a Pet. Nothing beats a loving dog at beating the hell out of all stress. No matter how sad or depressed you come home, you dog will make you feel like the Queen of the world again! Some people like cats or birds. What do you like?

5. Listen to Good Music. Classical music is a great choice but if like Bollywood numbers, even that is great. Listen to music that soothes you down, avoid harsh loud music that tends to make you feel more excited, stressed and agitated.

Sometimes even reading a book helps in calming down excited nerves. Some people swear that cooking relaxes them! Other ways to beat stress are kickboxing, running, dancing, drinking green tea etc. You just need to know what works for you!
