Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has added another feather to her cap. The UNAIDS has appointed Ash as its Goodwill Ambassador to spread the awareness about prevention of AIDS. UNAIDS is the United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS.
Aishwarya's job as the Goodwill Ambassador of UNIAIDS entails spreading awareness about the prevention of AIDS in children and about access to treatments against the virus in women and adults. Aishwarya seems to have decided to take this role seriously. She says, "I am honoured to accept this appointment. Spreading awareness on health issues, especially related to women and children, has always been a priority for me. And now, as a new mother, I can personally relate to this -- the joys and concerns of every mother and the hopes that we have for our children. I strongly believe that every baby should be born free from HIV. And I wish that every woman living with HIV stays healthy and has access to treatment. I promise that with UNAIDS, I will do my utmost to make this happen."
This makes us very proud of Ash. But does this mean that we won't be seeing much of her on the big screen any time soon?
