Finally the stand-off between Bollywood producers and exhibitors has ended. The tiff between Multiplex Owners and Film Producers over the profit sharing ratio has been successfully resolved at last. Mukesh Bhatt has confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, the strike got over at 3am. All the parties agreed to our demand and we all will be releasing films soon.” Though the exact details of the agreement are not known yet, isn’t it enough that we will finally get to watch new movies?
Movies Lined Up For Release
The Film Producers’ strike began in February this year, and there have been no major Bollywood releases since then. There are many small and big budget movies that had to be pushed back due to the strike. You can now expect all these movies to release in a spate. The new releases will be made from the next Friday i.e. 12 June, 2009. Here are a few movies lined up for release in the next few months…
Kaminey: This Vishal Bhardwaj movie is touted to be one of the biggest movies of the year. The film has Shahid Kapoor in a double role and Priyanka Chopra. We keep hearing rumors of a real life romance here, but possibly the rumor is just for publicity!
New York: John Abraham and Katrina Kaif, two of the hottest names in India right now come together for the first time in this Yash Raj Films production. Salman Khan doesn’t seem too happy about Kat working with John, but work comes first for all successful people dearies!
Paathshala: Double treat for all Shahid fans out there! If Kaminey doesn’t satisfy you, go watch this story related to school and children. Does this remind you of TZP? Don’t worry, the story is completely different.
Kambhakkht Ishq: This is Sajid Nadiadwala’s attempt to go international. You will see Hollywood A listers like Stallone and Denise Richards in this film. Akshay and Kareena Kapoor try to woo the audience once again, but will they be able to?
Love Aaj Kal: Finally Saif’s production debut will get to see the light of day. He has roped in Imtiaz Ali of “Jab We Met” fame to direct this Saif-Deepika venture. Can we see Kareena fuming? Sure!
Apart from these big movies, there are a few more lined up. These “not-so-big” names are: ”Luck”, “Kal Kissne Dekha”, “Paying Guests”, “Paritosh”, “Pankh”, “Tere Sang” and “Phirr”. Now let’s not hear anything about “No Entertainment” from the audiences. The entertainment is all set to grab you!
