There is great news for people who hate “Saas-Bahu” soaps from the Ekta Kapoor camp. No friends, Balaji Telefilms is not shutting shop! But they are all set to take off one more show from Star Plus.

Days after Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki has been taken off air, Balaji’s other flagship serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is all set to go. If reports are to be believed, Star Plus has decided to take the once popular soap off air within a month. “Kyunki..” is the longest running show in the history of Indian television and the Virani’s have been known to every household in our country for more than 8 years now!

With genres like Reality TV, comedy shows, sitcoms, thrillers etc ruling the roost these days, Star Plus has decided to get a makeover. So they wish to throw out the old & boring saas-bahu shows while bringing in fresh new content that can appeal to the youth.

Terminating “Kyunki” is a breach of contract on the part of the channel, so Balaji is considering legal action against them. The news of Balaji’s flagship show being taken off air has damaged the company’s reputation considerably. This has led to grave losses in the stock market as well. No doubt, Ekta must be fuming!!!

But fans of Balaji need not worry coz they still have five more shows on Star Plus from the Balaji camp. Balaji also produces two shows each for 9X and NDTV Imagine. Ekta Kapoor is a smart woman and she is definitely not one to take things lying down. I am quite sure she will soon be spearheading a campaign in her company to produce new shows that are more in line with the changing face of Indian Television. Good Luck Balaji!
