Shahrukh can be heard asking this question over and over on National TV these days. Thanks to Star Plus, many people are seen mugging up course books of young children with a zeal and passion that they lacked when they were students themselves. And why not? After all, who doesn’t want to make a quick buck and meet Shahrukh too?
The format of the show has been borrowed from Mark Burnett’s ”Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” As you already know, the Crorepati star Shahrukh Khan will be hosting the show. In some ways, the show is similar to Kaun Banega Crorepati, and yet is a little different.
Contestants will be asked questions from the course book of a fifth grader or of a lower level. There will be 10 questions based on different subject cards that the contestant will get to choose from. The last and 11th question will be drawn from a different set of questions. Till question 10, the contestant will be allowed to quit the game if he/she does not know the answer. But this option is not available for question 11. Before the last question is asked, the contestant will have to decide whether or not he/she wishes to answer it.
If a contestant decides to quit, he will walk away with nothing if at least five questions have not been answered correctly. If five questions have already been answered correctly and the contestant wishes to quit, he/she will get Rs. 200,000 as the prize money. And whoever answers the last (11th) question correctly, will win the grand prize of Rs. 5 crores!
The interesting bit in this game is that the contestants will be allowed to cheat three times during the game. They will be able to cheat from a group of fifth graders on the stage, who will be answering the same questions as the contestant. And yes, the little funny touch will be the contestant (if he doesn’t win) saying into the camera “I am not smarter than a fifth grader.”
